Are You Looking For The How?

Now that spring is in the air here in PA, and it is time to put on our short and short sleeves, everyone is talking about getting in shape and losing weight. It certainly isn’t new for any of us because after all, the majority of our population goes through this every year, over and over again. As a matter of fact, statistics show that the average person in America will try four attempts throughout the course of the year to lose weight. Now, I don’t know about you, but that tells me one thing…the first 3 attempts didn’t work and so they went back to looking for the”HOW” one more time, to find that magic solution.  If you ask me, this is a complete waste of time, energy and money. We have lost so much productivity going round and round in cycles of deprivation and defeat, that it is actually quite maddening.  I have yet to understand why people put themselves through this.

The How Is Killing Your Results

As a life trainer, people tend to recognize our state of health and fitness when we are out in public and quite often approach us looking for answers. It is always interesting to me that people ask what we do and then immediately, they turn off their ears, and start rambling a mile a minute about the latest greatest diet or exercise program that they have found that is going to change their life and how we should try it. Now, not to sound like a jerk, but do we look like we need to try this latest fad that is out there? And, better yet, they always go on to tell us that they have tried so many things and nothing has worked and this new thing is going to be the one that changes their lives!! REALLY?!?! I hate to tell you, but there is no HOW (workout program or diet) that will change your life if you have not identified your WHY.  I think people talk this way to us to try to make a connection and assume we must know every program out there and must be using them since we are in good shape.

Here is the thing, there are thousands of programs out there, if not millions, and quite frankly, I really don’t care about any of them, not because they are bad, but because there is no program or HOW that is the magic bullet that is going to change the world. Programs are great if you use them and stick to them, but that is where people fall short.

The Solution Is In The WHY!

A health style is a lifelong process, not a short-term commitment and anything long term requires an identification of and a complete commitment to the WHY. The only magic bullet is for you to identify your WHY and then follow a routine and set up systems in your life that are healthy and that work for you. For most people that is not a fad diet, workout program or any other system that is extremely restrictive. Instead, it is a routine of healthy living in moderation where you consume 80-90% healthy, whole food,  fit some sort of movement or exercise into your life every day that is enjoyable for you, and you work to focus on a positive mindset at all times and do the work necessary to release limiting belief systems that are holding you back. Now, the key to all of this is the WHY. WHY is that they key? Because without the WHY, you will find it very easy to fall off the wagon, because there will be days where you don’t want to eat right or exercise or when life is just pulling you down and it is hard to stay positive. But, with a strong enough WHY, you will never stay off track for very long and you will get right back to doing what you need to do for yourself and your WHY.

The Results…

Our WHY has changed our lives in ways we could never have imagined. We were just like you in many ways. Earlier in our lives, we ate whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted to.  Food has always been a passion of ours and always will be!! Exercise is enjoyable for us, which is not true for everybody, but there were also times in our lives where we were not consistent. It took being struck down with illness for us to recognize the importance of putting routines and systems in our life for healthy living. These included making exercise and movement a routine. There is not a day that goes by that we don’t get some sort of movement. It is rarely the same every day and some days it is intense, other days it is a casual walk, or playing around with the kids.

We also have learned to address our mindset and belief systems. After 3 1/2 years of emotional coaching (which we will continue using forever), we approach life from a completely new perspective. Letting go of limiting belief systems and staying focused on the positive in the present moment has been one of the most life changing things we have ever done. It allows you to completely connect with your WHY and move past any attachments in your life that are subconsciously influencing your decisions that are holding you back when it comes to making choices regarding healthy living.

What to do now…

So before you spend any more time looking for the HOW; How will I lose weight?, How will I get in shape? How can I get more energy? How can I be more productive?, stop and ask yourself WHY!

WHY do you want to lose weight?
WHY do you want to be in better shape?
WHY do you want to be more productive?

We work with our clients on really digging deep into these questions and not only answering them directly but then going deeper and deeper into the core as to what these things will mean for their lives. This is where you start to really identify and connect so strongly with that WHY that it becomes the driving force in all that you do and has a profound impact on your life.

If you want to change your life, you are in the right place. Let us help you uncover the way, create systems and routines that meet your goals and desires, and remove your limiting beliefs that are preventing you from accomplishing your goals. You do want to have more our of life, don’t you? If we can do it, why can’t you?
